  1. What’s a typical day like at the Museum?

A typical day at the museum is always dynamic and engaging! I start by preparing the exhibits and ensuring everything is ready for visitors. Throughout the day, I meet people from all walks of life—students, history buffs, and curious travelers. I assist with their questions, whether it’s about a specific exhibit, what it is like living in Cayman, or even places to eat, and this always feels satisfying. It is always rewarding to see visitors light up when they connect with the various exhibits and history we share at the Museum.  I often get to hear fascinating personal stories from visitors as well, which adds a special touch to my day!  No two days are ever the same for sure.

  1. Any favorite moments?

Some of my favorite moments at the museum come from the incredible stories visitors share. One time, I met a staff member from the White House who told me how much she loved our museum and its focus on history—it was such an honor to hear her kind words! Another unforgettable experience was meeting a gentleman with a speech impediment. Surprisingly, I seemed to understand him perfectly, and we quickly bonded over our shared passion for museums. He told me he was the Director of a small museum in Donegal Ireland, and we’ve stayed in touch ever since. He’s even visited a couple of times since then, which has been so lovely. Moments like these remind me of the power of history to connect people from all over the world.

  1. What’s the one thing you’ve learned about Caymanian culture since working here?

One thing I’ve learned from Caymanian culture since working at the museum is the deep respect for tradition and community, especially seen in practices like thatch weaving and seafaring. I’ve come to appreciate how these skills aren’t just crafts—they’re a reflection of resourcefulness and heritage, passed down through generations and still celebrated today. It’s inspiring to see how proud Caymanians are of their history and how they keep it alive.

  1. What’s the most popular item in the giftshop and why do you think visitors like it?

The most popular items in the gift shop are anything featuring the Cayman Islands flag and coat of arms, as well as Caymanian history books. Visitors love these because they serve as meaningful souvenirs that connect them to the island's unique identity. Many are intrigued to learn that the Cayman Islands are still a British Overseas Territory, and the books give them a deeper understanding of our history and culture. The flag and coat of arms, meanwhile, symbolize pride and heritage, making them cherished keepsakes.
